Tinubu Appoints Brigadier General Kunle Nafiu as NYSC DG

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially appointed Brigadier General Kunle Nafiu as the new Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).

Who is Brigadier General Kunle Nafiu?

Before his appointment, Brigadier General Nafiu served as the Chief of Staff to the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Olufemi Oluyede. He also previously held the same role under the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Raised Abiodun Lagbaja.

As a Member of the 47 Regular Course, Nafiu is a highly skilled Artillery Officer who has undergone training at both the Armed Forces Command and Staff College and the prestigious US Army War College. His career also includes a position as a Directing Staff at the Army War College, Nigeria.

Nafiu, who hails from Ileogbo, Aiyedire Local Government Area of Osun State, is taking over the NYSC leadership from Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed. His appointment takes immediate effect.

Corps Members React to the Appointment

Following the announcement, many NYSC members have expressed disappointment, stating that their primary concern remains the N77,000 allowance promised by the federal government. Many corps members believe the government has failed to fulfill this promise.

@NYSCStruggle: “Which kind DG be this? Person wey dey use lip gloss like celebrity. Na wetin concern us be that?”

@KemiCorper: “We no send DG appointment. We need our allowance! Tinubu, do the needful.”

With corps members feeling frustrated, all eyes are now on the federal government to see if the promised allowance increase will be implemented.
